Living in a small space with kiddos can be challenging. It has been a huge motivator for being creative with ways for my kiddos to have a place to play!
This little space is in a closet underneath the stairs. The closet size is 3ft W x 5ft D X 6ft H. Originally, we had figured out it was a great "catch all" closet. We'd just throw whatever crap we didnt have a spot for into the closet. That was fine until we realized we had way too many jackets and missing and broken items stuffed into this closet. The girls loved to go in and out of the closet to play so- we made it a play space! We first had to minimize and declutter what was already in the closet, then we added all the good stuff- toys!
We can't make huge renovations to the space as it is a rented apartment. Adding hooks, creating a dynamic color schemes and make a little DIY shelf system is what really made this space work best. We added a rug to help lessen the sound of pots and pans falling onto the floor and we took the door off because the risk of getting fingers smashed got higher and higher by the day. I'd eventually love to add a pendant light.
I can't even tell you how many hours of play we've gotten out of this little space. If you feel motivated to create a space like this for your kiddos to play in- go for it. It has been so worth it.
